Lavinia E. Dimmick-Alfred Rée correspondence, 1898-1900.

This collection consists of letters that passed between Alfred and Lavinia Rée during their courtship, ending with notes on their wedding reception, honeymoon travel and return to England. There is some extraneous correspondence, mostly with Lavinia's stepmother, plus the couple's wedding book. The letters as a whole give a good account of the formality of middle class late Victorian courtship as well as biographical details and descriptions of family life. The original letters are accompanied by a typed transcript made by the couple's second daughter Irene Rée Swallow. This volume includes portraits of Mr. and Mrs. Rée.
